Jammu: On Saturday, a collision involving four buses in Jammu and Kashmir's Ramban district resulted in minor injuries to 25 pilgrims participating in the Amarnath Yatra.
According to officials, the incident occurred when one of the bus drivers lost control, allegedly due to brake failure.
This mishap took place near the Chandrakote Yatri Langar along the Jammu-Srinagar highway.
Rescue teams from the police and Health Department acted quickly, transporting the injured individuals to the Ramban district hospital.
Ilyas Khan, the Deputy Commissioner of Ramban, visited the hospital to check on the injured pilgrims.
He confirmed that all 25 individuals suffered minor injuries from the bus collision.
The Deputy Commissioner also mentioned that all injured pilgrims would be discharged after receiving first aid.
Officials stated that alternative transport arrangements have been organized to ensure the injured can continue their pilgrimage post-discharge.
Since the commencement of the 38-day Yatra on July 3, over 26,800 pilgrims have participated within the first two days.
On the same day, an additional group of 6,979 pilgrims departed from Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas towards Kashmir in two escorted convoys consisting of 312 vehicles.
This year's Yatra has seen heightened security measures following the tragic April 22 terror attack in Baisaran meadow, where 26 civilians were killed by Pakistan-backed Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorists.
To enhance security, an extra 180 companies of Central Armed Police Forces have been deployed alongside the Army, Border Security Force, Sashastra Seema Bal, Central Reserve Police Force, and local police, ensuring a safe passage for the pilgrims.
The entire route from Jammu to the base camps of Baltal and Pahalgam, as well as the treks to the holy cave shrine, are under constant surveillance by security forces.
